I have not been posting very often, but it doesn't mean I'm not at least *thinking* about blogging....I know I have some new readers-- because I have some new comments! So, if you're a new reader...thank you for letting me know!
So. Here I am, sick in bed with a sore throat and sinuses that feel like they are filled with jello. And, seeing as I am hopped up on a cocktail of Coffee, Theraflu, Advil, and a Robotussin chaser, I thought I'd take what is probably the only lucid moment in my day to write about nail polish.
So, above you see an illustration done by yours truly. Yesterday (when I was also sick) I started thinking about "Things to do when you are sick in bed." And one of the things I came up with (other than, "Blow Nose", "Moan on Exhale", and "Feel Sorry for Self", was "Take Old Nail Polish and Try to Concoct New Colors". I have to admit that at that point, the idea of inhaling nail polish fumes was strangely....enticing.
Anyway! The other day Kurt and I were walking in NYC and I spotted this plexiglass thing in the window of a nail salon with all these appliqued nails on it....mounted like bug species...one next to the other; some with stripes, some with rhinestones, some with sort of car-art motifs. And it occurred to me that nail joy on that level is only experienced by a select few. And I felt left out.
So, above are my ideas for some things I could do with my nails that might not be that insane....and that might actually be good. And, I could do these things with 1) my relatively short nails and 2) all the old black, blue, green etc. polish I STILL have from days of yore.
My personal favorites are
a. The Reverse French Manicure. This is where you put black on the tips instead of white.
and f. Diagonally divided nail and h. A natural pink nail bisected by a stripe.
