I just finished this illustration called "Goldfish" yesterday and wanted to share. I was really happy with the way the 2 pieces hair sort of looked like the whiskers on a koi...and probably, I should have gone further with that...so right now, there's a subtle goldfish reference. And, I couldn't resist using the spiralbound_ feathers in the back. I love the texture they create on the page...and much of the content/color was inspired by things I've been posting here.
Also loving these patterned dresses and the gradient and earthy color combinations, but god strike me down if I ever look this unenthusiastic about my clothes.
I did notice that French Connection has some cheaper options for patterned dresses that are quite pretty.

Shoot, I try NEVER to walk through the Copley Mall (or any mall) unless faced with mother nature's inclement conditions, but I had to go and ogle the BCBG store today...I really love his clothes, and find them very flattering, feminine and usually a really good fit with fantastic cuts.
Anyway-- here were a few things I glimpsed, which I then found on the BCBG Website. The red dress at top is my favorite. I tried it on and it fit. That was all!!! I swear!!!
God, I love these shoes...especially the second ones from the top! I love projects that can not only take an old object and re-interpret it, but also make it richer in the process and give birth to a whole new look with the combination.

These shoes reminded me of a fantastic project by Wary Meyers that appears weekly in Time Out New York's feature, Tossed and Found. I love how they transformed this rather run-of-the-mill bureau into an all-out-awesome-fest of organization. The column features items plucked from le garbage and transformed.
This duo's website is definitely a great place to gather inspiration, as well....there are plenty of pics of interiors they have designed and altered. Very interesting and thought-provoking asthetics.
Amazing and delicate jewelry designs by Daughter of Luxury popped out at me as I was trolling Etsy. I love the use of these simple elements and the carefully chosen colors-- very light, pretty and sculptural!
I had a little bit of a download attack when I looked at the lovely items on Day-Lab, a wonderfully curated online store.
She has a great eye for vintage touches, and some items I particularly liked were up top. It's amazing the inspiration that can come from looking at vintage items-- even seemingly innocuous ones, like a little metal tray. I especially liked the delicate, yet retro style of many of the items in the shop, and the striking yet subdued natural tones of many of the goods. Enjoy!
Up there is a painting on paper that I did last summer which I just found in my desk. It It's a bright day here, so I thought I'd take a picture of it to share. I was working alot with these vertical lines, sort of like film-grain. Painting on the paper, then erasing around the shapes to get these isolated forms., or overlapping shapes onto the lines I think I'm going to start experimenting again with these-- there's always been something I liked about them.
I love this hat from Galvin-ized Hat. I just wish I could wear this on my head. Unfortunately, the most dramatic thing I have ever worn on my head is orthodontic headgear...
Anyway, Galvinized has such a knack for creating beautiful hats that not only spark the imagination, but also harken back to the sensual, mysterious hats of the glamour era. The flattering forms, and dramatic, swooping brims and sophisticated decorative touches make me wish the hat was still a fundamental item in feminine attire.

Anyway- a little message popped up in my inbox from Stina Persson-- who I have never met. This Swedish illustrator's work is really gorgeous, whimsical, and feminine. I love it, especially her 'Girls'. The use of the white paper is really, really masterful without feeling unspontaneous....so pretty.

Ok- at the Cooper Hewitt this weekend, I saw the work of Judy Geib....Who is an NYC based jewelry designer. I absolutely loved her work, and so I wanted to post it here. Unfortunately, the photos on her site do not do justice to the beauty of the jewelry-- actually, even the photos on Barney's don't...in a way you just have to see it in person- it's very light, very yellow gold-- looks like something that you might find buried in a tomb from long, long ago. She makes beautiful cuffs in a variety of lightweight, elegant patterns...
She also creates these fabulous croched seashell bags that were incredible (and if I find a good photo of one, I'll post it later on...) Her work can be seen at Judy Geib + Alpha.
