PAPER TEASER {new designs}
Hello! I'm sorry for being a bit late with today's post...but, as promised, here's a little peek of the newest work...I know, I know, it doesn't show very much...but, I'm still very much keeping things under wraps...it's a necessity. But, I am happy to share even a little bit of what I've been working on...
Spring 08 Collection:
Over 12 New Patterns, and a bunch of new products...plus enhancements to existing favorites.
Greening The Products:
I found out that 'green' is a big trend right now. That seems positive...but, there's lots hype and spin to watch out for. For example, just because a paper is recycled, doesn't mean it's eco friendly....How much fuel does it take to ship the paper? How much recycled content is there? what types of varnishes and chemicals are ON the paper? What do they do to the earth when we throw them away? How much trimmed waste is there after a print run? How much energy is our print method using or wasting? All of these things play into the *real* greening of a product.
These were all things I learned about...sometimes to my distress, because they often meant I had to design around them...restrict the work in many ways. But, I'm happy I did. Now I will have a product I can truly stand behind. A great offer for my customers...who can feel assured they are getting a thoughtful product through and through. And, something I can live with, too. I feel really, really happy about this.
Green Details:
All papers are 100% post consumer recycled and milled using windpower...across the entire line. This took a great amount of research, because recycled paper gets pricey. But, I would not be creating a collection if I could not use 100% recycled paper. So, I am really happy to announce that.
Also, all designs...all of them... will also be printed using windpower! Printing is done locally, I can get there on the subway. This cuts down on fuel use, since shipping will be quick and short. And, the printing process, from the plate to the press, produces only 2% of the chemicals and vapors that a normal process would. Inks are vegetable-based, and actually, all of the plates are produced in a chemical-free process...using nothing but water! And, each notebook comes with kitten! Okay...that last one, not true. But, I'm working on it. meow meow.

So...that's news for today. I am getting really excited, because the whole vision is really coming together. I wanted to create a line of paper goods that took paper to a new place...and I when I look at the work I've done, I think I just might be getting there!
I'll be back over the weekend with a sneak peek at next week's posts. Happy Friday, all, and thank you so much for visiting this week. Now...back to work for me!
