Tis A gift to be simple {wood, wool and wonder}
Hello! Just popping in for a second with some items I've noticed lately which I think would make really nice, thoughtful and useful gifts.
I was inspired to do this post by this artwork by Tsilli... which my Dad sent me so I could have a look (thanks, Dad!). My Dad is an engineer, and very good at building things and although I am an artist, I always thought we shared the same enjoyment in well-planned, sturdily built things with simple beauty.
There's something so great about materials that are forgiving...they get used, worn...played with...and they just keep on going. Getting better, changing, and just plain bringing joy. And along those lines, here are a few friendly items I thought had this quality in their design and materials:
Child's Chair at Bookhou (also loving their felted chair)
Button Coasters at Eden and Eden (these win the 'why didn't i think of that or WDITOT award for 2008)
Fantastically Emboidered Slippers via Poppytalk at TOAST
Simple Wooden yo-yo at Suddenly It's Real
Wood Blocks (letters, numbers, animals in German, English, Spanish or French!!) Made in USA at ROMP
Child's Habitat ((Il posto dei giochi) by Enzo Mari at L'Enfant Terrible
Resilliant Wooden Stapler at the ever-inspring office designer group DCI
