These sketches are beautiful. I've always loved charcoal, but never was good at it. Granted, I'm not good at drawing at all... These are just perfect for a Monday.

I love Sargent! The museum I work at has a lot of his paintings and I never tire of gazing at them. This is one of my favorites: http://www.mfa.org/collections/object/the-daughters-of-edward-darley-boit-31782

I actually grew up just outside of Boston and know the exact painting you are talking about, without even having to click on it. It was my ABSOLUTE favorite artwork in the museum and my dad bought me a small print of it, after I had first seen it. I had the print hanging in my bedroom. I was always fascinated by the placement of the girls in the frame, and the giant swath of red in the corner - and the big blue and white vase. I just loved looking at it and imagining their lives and the story behind the painting.
It's such a small world. I spent many days at the MFA. It's one of my favorite places on Earth.
