So...I love the work of Michael Rubin who sells his drawings and paintings in his shop Rube323 on Etsy. I don't really understand why all of his fantastic drawings are under twenty bucks, b/c I think that they could go for at least 80 if not more-- in a gallery, these would be at least 200 ea. But, hey! Better for us, right?
Anyway, I first saw his shop when it had just opened, and meant to post about it then....but now, I am happy to see he's sold 10 items, which makes me very happy.
I'd watch this person, there's something really special about his work, that I can't quite describe. I think it's just a joyous example of what drawing IS. I love the playfulness, but also the kind of interior view of these tubes and structures that the artist seems fixated on.
He also has some other items on the site, a picture of a blender and a drawing of what looks like a sandwich...but, I feel that the tubes are where it's at. I'm not so jazzed on the representational stuff...but, then again, it's not me making the work, so who am I to judge! oooh. I'm feeling so punchy today!
