Hello Everyone!
So, this weekend, other than moving over to the new space in DUMBO with a whole bunch of boxes...(it was a schlepfest, let me tell ya!)...I found myself maniacally rooting around in my Big Bag of Clothes to Get Rid Of. Looking for fabric. To cut into strips. To braid. For no reason. Just because I had an idea in my head, and wanted to try it.
Well, it looks like I'm not alone...which is good, because my first attempt as an avant garde accessory designer was pretty silly looking. Anyway, I was totally surprised to find some of these fabric necklaces online today...as if psychically created by some of my favorite designers! Yay! They are having their day in the sun. And It's about freaking time.
The indisputable queens, in my opinion, of this type of jewelry, are the designers at Lizzie Fortunato. But Alice and Olivia have something really good going too. Kind of a cross between a scarf and a necklace, which I would like to see a few more of.
Lizzie Fortunato braided collars found here
Alice and Olivia Necklace (my pick) found here
Lizzie Fortunato Necklace and bracelet above found here
My jaw literally dropped over the last two braided necklaces. OBSESSED.

Yay! Happy you like them as much as I do. The weird thing is...even though they're sort of different, I feel like these are actually really wearable--- like with jeans and a t-shirt even?

Hyperventilation. NEED.
Does this remind you of those preppy braided rope bracelets we used to wear in middle school? The ones that were white and vaguely nautical? xoxo

Love love love! You've definitely inspired me to give it a whirl as well. One of the ups of this recession (if there are any to be found...) is that people seem to be getting more into DIY stuff, myself included. Great post as always!

I am so glad that the jeans and t-shirt comment went over well with everyone! I'm totally fantasizing about wearing that combination... esp. with the necklaces on the bottom. I love how chunky and bright they are!! xx s
