I know those of you who I chat with on Twitter are sick of hearing me go on and on about the dressmaker's model I just bought...but I can't help it! I'm excited. I can't sew very well and don't have much experience with clothing, but I think with patience and a lot of observation, by the end of the spring, I might be able to wear something I made, possibly in a print I designed.
Although I feel a little weird thinking about walking around wearing my own pattern designs, I also think it could be kind of fun. What the heck. Nothing major at first...hopefully just a couple of VERY simple skirts or blouses. Above, a couple of the designs I think might be good choices to explore...just ideas I like. I'm not in love with the color palettes yet, and I will have to get the scale right so I don't look like Bozo, but it's a start. I actually think the one on the bottom would look better in a plum color now that I look at it.
I also just bought a new digital camera. Thank you to Kate of For Me For You for the very helpful info on the topic. So, if all goes as planned, I'll be posting more images from my actual creative doings here on the blog.
I love these! If you need anyone to test drive your wares, let me know. I prefer knee-length skirts. :)

HOly baby animals I really, really like these prints, Susy.
I'm seeing a simple racerback tank for the first print, and a sassy pleated skirt for the second. And I want them both. Get on that.

You guys are too kind! I've already started sketching the designs I'd like to make. But the big challenge is that I NEVER wear prints - I wear pretty much black black black. So this is going to be interesting... uhhh.

the kind of dress i hope to make (one day) has a boat neck, a slight bat-wing sleeve to just above the elbow, and a narrow, tapered shape to just above the knees. i'm going to try and make it out of muslin and see if it will work then maybe i'll try it with this print in a darker or more subtle palette... : )

I made a skirt from a silkscreen pattern I made. I didn't really wear it, even though it did fit me. I had to keep it nice for the student show. It's pretty fun, though! I would love your patterns made into fabric.
